How We Build Your Foundation

Foundation work follows a specific sequence. Each step builds on the last, and skipping any step compromises the final result. Here's our process:

Layout and Excavation

We start by marking the exact location and dimensions of your foundation. Then we excavate trenches for footings or dig the full area for a slab foundation. Depth depends on your project and local frost line requirements. We dig to solid, undisturbed soil that won't settle.

Forming and Reinforcement

We build forms from dimensional lumber or steel to create the exact shape needed. Forms must be level, square, and properly braced. Then we install rebar in a grid pattern with the right spacing and overlap. Rebar placement follows engineering plans or code minimums.

Inspection and Pour

Before we pour, the building inspector checks our work to verify everything meets code. Once approved, we pour high-strength concrete and work it around the rebar to eliminate voids. We take care to maintain proper rebar placement during the pour.

Finishing and Curing

We finish the top surface level and install anchor bolts for attaching framing. Then we protect the concrete while it cures to full strength. In hot weather, we keep it moist. In cold weather, we protect it from freezing. Proper curing takes at least 7 days before you can build on it.
